Sports kits distributed among girl students

With a motive to inspire the girl students to excel in sports, Surjit Memorial Hockey Society today distributed sports kits free of cost to students of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Nehru Garden, Jalandhar to mark the International Women’s Day.

Distributing the kits to students, the teachers of the school exhorted the girl students to participate in sports activities. They said sportspersons were blessed with several qualities and one of them was that they develop a team spirit during the game, which could help them to excel in their lives.

Teachers said sports played an active role in the overall development of the personality of the students.

Citing an example of outstanding players like Arjuna Awardee Raj Kaur; Arjuna Awardee Arjinder Kaur; Olympian Nisha Sharma and International hockey coach Baljit Kaur who were the product of the school, they said: “The students must take inspiration from these players and carve a niche for themselves. students can bring laurels to their family, state and country by excelling in the field of sports.”
